Cypress Falls girls end year in state semifinal

March 6, 2012—The Cypress Falls High School girls’ basketball team completed its best season in school history with a 64-40 loss to Duncanville in the UIL Class 5A state semifinal on Friday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Duncanville went on to win the state championship on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles’ Loryn Goodwin led all scorers with 19 points while adding two blocks and three steals. She was one of five players named to the Class 5A All-Tournament Team.
Cypress Falls finished the year with a 37-3 record. The Lady Eagles were the District 17-5A champions and state semifinalists.
“This group of student athletes accomplished great things that many never thought possible. They made school history by being the first Cy Falls basketball team to make it to state, but they made history every day by improving themselves, their team and their school,” said Cypress Falls head coach Jim Stephens. “Our seniors will graduate knowing that they finished as regional champs with a three-year record of 103-10, two district championships and many tournament championships—and they did it all with class.”
