Summer school details finalized

March 14, 2012—CFISD administrators presented their 2012 summer school plans for elementary, middle and high school during the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, March 8. The following details were established:

High School

High school summer school will be held at Cy-Fair, Cypress Ridge and Cypress Lakes high schools:

  • First-session original credit courses will take place June 11-29, while second-session original credit courses will take place July 9-27 at Cy-Fair and Cypress Ridge high schools. The time schedule is 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with lunch from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Tuition for CFISD students is $175 for a half-credit course and $350 for a full-credit course, while tuition for out-of-district students is $275 for a half-credit course and $550 for a full-credit course;

  • First-session make-up credit courses will take place from June 14-29, while second-session make-up credit courses will take place July 9-24 at Cy-Fair and Cypress Ridge high schools. The time schedule is 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., with lunch from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Tuition for CFISD students is $175 for a half-credit course and $350 for a full-credit course, while tuition for out-of-district students is $275 for a half-credit course and $550 for a full-credit course; and

  • First-session ninth-grade make-up credit courses will take place from June 11-29, while second-session make-up credit courses will take place from July 9-27 at Cy-Fair, Cypress Lakes and Cypress Ridge high schools. The time schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition for CFISD students is $100 for a half-credit course and $200 for a full-credit course, while tuition for out-of-district students is $200 for a half-credit course and $400 for a full-credit course. Transportation will be provided at the beginning of the day for the 7:30 a.m. start and at the end of the day for 4 p.m. dismissal. No transportation will be provided in the middle of the day.

Summer school graduation will be held on Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

Middle School

Middle school summer school will be held at Labay and Smith middle schools:

  • First-session original credit courses will take place from June 11-29, while second-session original credit courses will take place from July 9-27. The time schedule is 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., with lunch from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuition is $175 for a one-half credit course and $350 for a full-credit course; and

  • First-session make-up credit courses will take place from June 14-29, while second-session make-up credit courses will take place from July 9-24. The time schedule is 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $175 for one course and $350 for two courses.

No out-of-district students will be allowed to attend middle school summer school. No transportation will be provided.

Elementary School

Elementary summer school will be held at Andre’, Danish, Lee and McFee elementary schools:

  • State-required Limited English Proficiency (LEP) pre-kindergarten and kindergarten summer school will take place June 11-26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Transportation will be provided and funded by Title III funds. Additionally, there will be an extended pre-kindergarten and kindergarten camp from 4 to 6 p.m., with parent-provided transportation;

  • General education and special education tuition camp for kindergarten through fifth-grade students will take place June 18-22 from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Tuition is $65 for one course and $130 for two courses, with a late fee of an additional $25 per half-day course. No transportation will be provided. Out-of-district students are permitted to attend.
