March 30, 2012—Students from Goodson Middle School utilized a $500 grant from The Meadows Foundation Charitable Schools Program to create 31 blankets and donate them to the Houston Area Women’s Center.
Goodson’s student council spearheaded The Warm a Heart Project, in which many student volunteers used 120 yards of fleece to create the blankets. The students stayed after school on March 23 and worked together to help make the blankets for the shelter.
“I am so proud of all the time and effort these students put forth to help warm the hearts of those that are less fortunate,” said Emily Peden, Goodson eighth-grade language arts teacher and student council sponsor.
