Cypress Woods places second at regional academic meet

April 24, 2012—Cypress Woods High School placed second overall at the UIL Class 5A Region III Academics Spring Meet, held April 20-21 at Seven Lakes High School in Katy.
Cypress Woods scored 140.25 total points to finish behind first-place Seven Lakes (182.25). Other CFISD schools scoring points were Cypress Creek (30), Cypress Falls (23), Cypress Springs (15), Cy-Fair (12), Langham Creek (10) and Cypress Lakes (8).
Two CFISD teams and 15 students placed in the top three to qualify for the UIL Academic State Meet, scheduled for May 21-23 at the University of Texas at Austin.

The Bakkhai is directed by Timothy Estelle and Toby Drake. Cast members are Trent Strahan, Brooke Boyd, Sarah Volkman, Julian Murray, Travis Toliver, Trevor Strahan, Peter Hoeft, Kate Naudin, Will Bowes, Caleb Walker, Josh Walden, Megan Tupa, Kristen Stubbe, Ashley Sargent, Lauren McCullar, Taryn Abercia, Emma Hayden, Alex Gillette, Adayre Bevill, Georgiana Xenos, Ashton Croft, Bethany Eggleston, Meghan Whitfield, Alyssa Tilley and Maggie Todd.
“We’re excited for their company, and firmly believe that the students’ hard work and dedication to their craft are two determining factors for their advancement to state,” Estelle said. “Cypress-Fairbanks consistently competes at a high level in the One-Act Play competition, and we are honored to have the opportunity to showcase our production as a representation of the fine work that CFISD has to offer. We are humbled to watch our students serve as ambassadors for our campus and district.”
Cypress Woods will perform sixth in the eight-school schedule on May 23 at the University of Texas.
