April 26, 2012—CFISD Key Clubs earned many accolades in celebration of their continuous service to their homes, schools and communities at the annual Texas-Oklahoma District Key Club Convention, April 12-15 in Dallas.

Each year, the Texas-Oklahoma District names the top 25 best clubs based on a series of monthly reports that reflect a club’s performance and serious dedication to volunteerism, among many other determinants. Cypress Woods was named the No. 1-ranked Key Club, with Cypress Ranch at No. 4, Cypress Falls at No. 5, Cy-Fair at No. 10 and Cypress Creek at No. 18.

Cy-Fair won second place in the Service Fair and third place in the T-Shirt and Website categories. Cy-Fair also won the Governor’s Project and UNICEF’s ELIMINATE patches.

Cypress Falls won first place in the District Project category, and earned the Distinguished Website Patch, the District Project, Governor’s Project and UNICEF’s ELIMINATE patches. The following students won awards:

  • sophomore Roshni Chandwani won third place in Oratory;
  • junior Carolina Hernandez, former president, was installed as Division 3N lieutenant governor and will preside over the Key Clubs in CFISD and Katy ISD; and

  • junior Kevin Duong, former secretary, was elected as 2012-2013 Texas-Oklahoma District secretary, and will help preside over the 300 Key Clubs in the two-state district.

“I am so proud of all of our clubs,” said Cypress Falls teacher and Key Club adviser Kathie Kiklas. “Although we all compete against each other, we cheer each other on knowing how much it takes to make the top 25. Congratulations to each and every Key Clubber.”

Cypress Ranch won first-place awards in the Traditional Scrapbook, Newsletter, Digital Poster and Governor’s Project Patch categories, a second-place award in the Video category and a third-place award in the Impromptu Essay category. It also earned the Distinguished Website, District Project, Governor’s Project and UNICEF’s ELIMINATE patches. The following students won awards:
