Student athletes make academic all-state teams
May 10, 2012—Nine CFISD students competing in spring sports were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State teams in their respective sports.
To be considered for recognition, the student athletes must:
have an overall grade-point average of 92 or above, including grades 9-11 and the first six weeks of grade 12;
have been a member of the team in good standing at the time of nomination;
be a senior; and
be of good moral character.
Jersey Village High School senior Matthew Richardson was named to the first team of the Academic All-State Boys’ Golf team.
Cypress Woods High School seniors Tyler Bohlen and Karthik Reddy were named to the first team of the Academic All-State Boys’ Tennis team, while Cypress Woods senior Robert Carder was named to the second team and Cypress Woods seniors Cameron Cooper and Josh Dragna were named honorable mention.
Cypress Woods senior Prathusha Bethala was named to the second team of the Academic All-State Girls’ Tennis team.
Cypress Ranch High School senior Kory Hornberger was named to the second team of the Academic All-State Baseball team, while Cypress Ranch senior Zachary Bragg made the honorable mention team.
