May 22, 2012—Several CFISD elementary school students won gold medals in the Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM), announced on April 9.
Using the quality and standards of the secondary competition Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) as a model, TEAM was uniquely designed to accommodate the needs and learning styles of the elementary student.
The goals of TEAM are to:
-
recognize elementary art students in the state;
-
recognize quality elementary art instruction;
-
recognize art instructors for providing student opportunities;
-
inform school administrators of the contributions being made on behalf of their art instructors and define a standards-based program; and
-
reinforce state and national standards in elementary art programs.
The following Kirk Elementary School students were chosen to win medals from among more than 600 entries in the TEAM competition:
-
Anel Alvarez, fifth grade; Adelynn Molina, fifth grade; Alexandra Wisniewski, fifth grade; Ivan Morales, third grade; Rafi Saqer, fifth grade; Daisy Paredes, fifth grade; and Rachel Berger, fifth grade.
“Congratulations to all of the TEAM Gold Medal winners from Kirk Elementary for their outstanding artwork. I’m very proud of these dedicated students and their creativity,” said Kirk art teacher Lisa Eller.
