CFISD names new principal for Goodson MS
May 31, 2012—Sheri McCaig, an assistant principal at Goodson Middle School, was named the new principal at Goodson Middle School on Thursday. McCaig replaces Phyllis Hamilton, who announced her retirement this month after 42 years in the education profession and 35 years in CFISD.
McCaig has spent 19 years in education, 13 of those in CFISD. She taught at Horne and Matzke elementary schools from 1993-1997 prior to teaching in Giddings and Katy school districts from 1997-2003. McCaig returned to CFISD as a teacher at Adam Elementary School (2003-2005) before being promoted to instructional specialist at Reed Elementary School for one year. She accepted an assistant principal position at Reed in 2006, serving three years prior to accepting her current position at Goodson in August 2009.
She has also served as a summer school principal for one year in 2009.
McCaig received her Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and her Master of Education and principal certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve as the next principal of Goodson Middle School,” McCaig said. “It is my goal to continue the tradition of excellence long established in the Goodson community. I look forward to working with the phenomenal staff, students and parents that make up the Goodson family.”
