Cypress Ranch wins; advances to baseball state title game
June 8, 2012—The Cypress Ranch High School baseball team defeated Arlington Martin High School, 6-0, in the Class 5A state semifinal on Friday at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock to advance to the state championship game on Saturday.
The Mustangs (31-8) will face A&M Consolidated High School in the final, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Dell Diamond. A&M Consolidated defeated Corpus Christi Carroll, 2-1, in the other semifinal game.
Cypress Ranch pitcher Grant Slaughter (10-2) pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out eight batters while surrendering only three hits. Corbin Martin led the Mustangs offensively by going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Bryce Stark went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
