CFISD names new principal for Horne Elementary

July 19, 2012—Stephanie Thomas, an assistant principal at Horne Elementary School, was named the principal at Horne on Wednesday. Thomas replaces Janna Barnhart, who accepted a principal position at The Shlenker School in Houston in May.

Thomas will begin her new role on Monday, July 23.

She has 12 years of experience in education, beginning as a fifth-grade math and science teacher in Alief ISD. She joined CFISD in 2001 as a teacher at Reed Elementary School, where she was promoted to team leader and at-risk specialist before being named an assistant principal in 2006.

She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and her master of education degree from Sam Houston State University.

“I am both thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the principal of Horne Elementary. It is a privilege to continue to work with such a dedicated staff to assist students in reaching their maximum potential,” Thomas said. “I look forward to working with the staff, families, students and the community of Horne Elementary.”
