Football teams to appear in showcase games in 2012

August 8, 2012—Several CFISD football teams will appear in the local and state spotlight during the 2012 season, playing in various televised games—and in one unique venue.

Both the Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods high school football teams will play in the BBVA Compass Kickoff Classic during the first week of the football seaon. Hosted by BBVA Compass Stadium (2200 Texas Ave.), the new home of the Houston Dynamo soccer team, the Kickoff Classic will feature the first two football games played at the stadium: Cypress Ranch will face Cinco Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 31, and Cypress Woods will meet Klein Collins at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1.

Four other 2012 games to be played in the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road) are scheduled to be televised, either live or on-demand:

• Cypress Ridge at Cypress Woods, Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. – Ch. 57, The Tube (live);

• Cypress Ranch at Langham Creek in the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Game of the Week, Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. – Xfinity Ch. 1 (on-demand, 48-72 hours after game occurs);

• Cypress Falls at Langham Creek, Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. – Ch. 57, The Tube (live); and

• Jersey Village at Langham Creek, Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. – Xfinity Ch. 1 (on-demand, 48-72 hours after game occurs).
