Four football players make APSE all-state team

Dec. 21, 2013—Four CFISD football players were named to the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) Class 5A all-state football team, released on Thursday.

Cy-Fair High School senior running back Dillon Birden headlined the honors by being named to the first team offense. Birden registered 2,282 yards on 335 carries for 22 touchdowns while leading the Bobcats to the Division I Region III-5A final.

Three Langham Creek High School defensive players were named to the honorable mention all-state team:

  • Dexter Collins was named an honorable mention all-state lineman;
  • Nico Costanzo was named an honorable mention all-state linebacker; and
  • Keith Batista was named an honorable mention all-state defensive back.
