    Cook 8th grade student wins Middle School Spelling Bee crown

    Feb. 27, 2023—Cook Middle School eighth grade student Lorena Badillo won first place by correctly spelling the word phalanges in the 10th round of the annual districtwide Middle School Spelling Bee, held Feb. 23 at the Berry Center. Badillo also participated in the competition in 2022 while in the seventh grade.

    Tenth annual Superintendent’s Fun Run set for April 1

    Jan. 31, 2023—Reaching its landmark 10th year, the annual Superintendent’s Fun Run is scheduled for April 1 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Towne Lake community. Filled with exciting live entertainment, two course layouts for running or walking, kids’ activities and other family-friendly endeavors, the fun run is the largest outdoor fundraising event in the district and CFISD will celebrate 10 years of supporting students and staff.

    See to Succeed clinic helps more than 800 students receive glasses

    Jan. 20, 2023—CFISD continued offering free comprehensive eye exams and eyewear to students through the Houston Health Department’s See to Succeed program, which served 873 students from 58 campuses Jan. 9-12 at the Berry Center.

    CFISD athletics partner with Tide Dry Cleaners to donate to toy drive

    Jan. 2, 2023—CFISD student-athletes, coaches and campus athletic programs collected and donated thousands of toys in November and December for children in Harris County Protective Services through the CFISD Athletics Leadership Initiative BE A Resource (BEAR) toy drive. Tide Dry Cleaners partnered with CFISD athletics and its fleet of vehicles helped pick up and deliver donations for the second-year project.
