To obtain a VOE, the student must sign up to request this form at the main office. Requests are processed within 24 hours (1 school day from the request). Students should come back to the main office during lunch hours to pick up the VOE. It will not be delivered to them.

• Students should remember that buildings are closed during spring and winter break as well as holidays and should plan accordingly.
• All verifications issued during the regular school year will expire in 30 days. However, verifications issued during the last five days of school are valid all summer long.

Driver’s License/Attendance Requirement

 The Texas Transportation Code (TRC) requires students who have not obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent to be enrolled in a public, home or private school, or GED program and meet specific enrollment conditions to obtain or renew a license. This requirement applies to persons under 18 years of age. Texas Education Code Section 25.092, Minimum Attendance for Class Credit, states that a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered. The 90 percent attendance rule applies when determining Verification of Enrollment (VOE) eligibility. Thus, if 1) the school awarded a student credit for each class the semester prior to application for the VOE form and 2) the school considers the student currently enrolled at the time the student applied for the VOE form, then the student should be considered eligible for the VOE form pursuant to the 90 percent rule. Schools can accept decisions of attendance committees when considering VOE eligibility. Summer school does not count as makeup time for attendance purposes unless the attendance committee makes summer school attendance a part of a student’s plan to make up days missed.
