For two years in a row, LCHS was the only CFISD district high school that earned all 7 EOC Distinction Designations.

There are 7 Distinction Designations:

1. Top 25% Student Progress
2. Top 25% Closing Performance Gap
3. Postsecondary Readiness
4. Academic Achievement in ELA/Reading
5. Academic Achievement in Mathematics
6. Academic Achievement in Social Studies
7. Academic Achievement in Science

Each campus is assigned to a unique comparison group of 40 other public schools from anywhere in the state, that closely matches our school on the following characteristics: campus type, campus size, percent of economically disadvantaged students, mobility rates (based on cumulative attendance), and percent of students with limited English proficiency.

Top 25% in Student Progress

The EOC STAAR progress measure provides information about the amount of improvement or growth that a student has made in a subject area. This measure is based on a comparison of a student’s test score last year with his or her score this year. In 2017, progress measures were available for high schools in the areas of English II and Algebra I.

Langham earned this Distinction Designation because within our 40-campus comparison group, our English II and Algebra I students scored in the top quartile in Index 2: Student Progress. For accountability, Progress Measure scores are set and recorded as an “Index Score,” not a percent. The target score for Student Progress was 17, and Langham scored 34, which is up 4 points from last year. To earn the top quartile in the 40-campus comparison group, an Index Score of 31 was needed. Langham earning an Index Score of 34 placed us in the top quartile, and thus resulted in earning this Distinction Designation. LCHS earned the third highest score in our comparison group and was the second CFISD school of those in our same comparison group.

Top 25% Closing the Performance Gap

A distinction designation is awarded for outstanding performance in closing student achievement gaps to a campus if it is ranked in the top 25 percent (Q1) of campuses in its 40-campus comparison group for Index 3. Index 3, Closing the Performance Gap, emphasizes advanced academic achievement of the economically disadvantaged student group and the lowest performing race/ethnicity student groups at each campus or district. In this performance index, the target score is 30. Langham’s score went beyond the target with an astounding 55, which is up 4 points from last year. To earn the top quartile in the 40-campus comparison group, an Index Score of 51 was required. Langham earning a 55 placed us in the top quartile, and thus resulted in earning this Distinction Designation. LCHS earned the second highest score in our 40-campus comparison group, again resulting in Lobo Nation earning the highest spot of CFISD schools within our comparison group.

Postsecondary Readiness

A distinction designation is awarded to campuses and districts for outstanding academic performance in attainment of postsecondary readiness.  *Index 4 in the accountability rating is Postsecondary Readiness.  In this performance index, the target score is 60. Langham blew away this target score earning an index of 85, which is UP 2 points from last year. Additional indicators for this distinction designation include: four-year longitudinal graduation rate, four-year longitudinal RHSP/DAP rate, college-ready graduates, Advanced/Dual enrollment course completion rate, *SAT/ACT participation, SAT/ACT performance, CTE-Coherent Sequence Graduates, and *AP/IB Examination Performance. For this distinction, high schools must have at least 33% of the 9 total indicators in the top quartile. Langham scored in the top quartile in 3 of 9 indicators resulting in our campus exceeding the target with 33%. (*Identifies indicators ranked in the top quartile for LCHS)

Academic Achievement in ELA/Reading

The Academic Achievement Distinction Designations occur in the areas of ELA/Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The first academic distinction designation recognizes outstanding academic achievement in reading/ELA on a variety of indicators: *English I EOC, *English II EOC, completion of advanced/dual enrollment courses, *greater than expected student growth in ELA/Reading, *SAT and ACT performance, *SAT/ACT participation, AP/IB Examination Participation, and *AP/IB Examination Performance. Index 1 in the accountability rating is Student Achievement. In this performance index, the target score is 60. Langham outshined this target earning an index score of 87, which is UP 1 point from last year. Campuses in the top 25% (top quartile) of their 40-campus comparison group are eligible for a distinction designation for ELA/Reading. To earn the top quartile, high schools must have at least 33% of their eligible measures receive a distinction designation for that ELA/Reading. Langham scored in the top quartile in 6 of 10 ELA/Reading indicators (up 1 indicator from last year) exceeding the 33% target with 60% (up 10% from last year). Academic Achievement in Mathematics

This academic distinction designation recognizes outstanding academic achievement in mathematics on a variety of indicators: *Algebra I EOC, *completion of advanced/dual enrollment courses, *greater than expected student growth in mathematics, *SAT and ACT performance, *SAT/ACT participation, AP/IB Examination Participation, and *AP/IB Examination Performance. Index 1 in the accountability rating is Student Achievement. In this performance index, the target score is 60. Langham scored beyond this target earning an index score of 87, which is up 1 point from last year. Campuses in the top 25% (top quartile) of their 40-campus comparison group are eligible for a distinction designation for mathematics. To earn the top quartile, high schools must have at least 33% of their eligible measures receive a distinction designation for mathematics. Langham scored in the top quartile in 6 of 9 mathematics indicators (up two indicators from last year), exceeding the 33% target with 67% (up 23% from last year). Academic Achievement in Social Studies

This academic distinction designation recognizes outstanding academic achievement in Social Studies on a variety of indicators: *U.S. History EOC, completion of advanced/dual enrollment courses, AP/IB Examination Participation, and *AP/IB Examination Performance. Index 1 in the accountability rating is Student Achievement. In this performance index, the target score is 60. Langham beat this target earning an index score of 87 (up one from last year). Campuses in the top 25% (top quartile) of their 40-campus comparison group are eligible for a distinction designation for social studies. To earn the top quartile, high schools must have at least 33% of their eligible measures receive a distinction designation for social studies. Academic Achievement in Science

This academic distinction designation recognizes outstanding academic achievement in science on a variety of indicators: *Biology EOC, completion of advanced/dual enrollment courses, ACT performance, AP/IB Examination Participation, and *AP/IB Examination Performance. Index 1 in the accountability rating is Student Achievement. In this performance index, the target score is 60. Langham outperformed this target earning an index score of 87 (up one from last year). Campuses in the top 25% (top quartile) of their 40-campus comparison group are eligible for a distinction designation for science. To earn the top quartile, high schools must have at least 33% of their eligible measures receive a distinction designation for science.
