Dr. Martinez started his career in education in 1994 as an eighth grade language arts teacher in Houston ISD. In 1999, he joined CFISD as an ESL teacher at Campbell Middle School. Following four years, Dr. Martinez moved into administration. He served four years as an assistant principal at Campbell and Kahla Middle Schools, and was assigned as principal to Watkins Middle School in 2007.

Dr. Martinez earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas, his Master of Education in Administration from Sam Houston State University and his Doctorate of Education in Professional Leadership from the University of Houston. He is an alumnus of the Leadership: An Evolving Vision program through the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and the Principals’ Institute by N2 Learning.

He is also a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, which helps improve workplace engagement and culture.
