Dr. Jose Martinez

Dr. Martinez is in his 25th year in education, including 20 years in CFISD. He began his career as an eighth grade language arts teacher in Houston ISD.

In 1999, he joined CFISD as an ESL teacher at Kahla Middle School. Following four  years, Martinez moved into administration. He served four years as an assistant principal at Kahla and Campbell middle schools, and assumed his current role at Watkins in 2007.

Dr. Martinez earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas, his Master of Education in Administration from Sam Houston State University and his Doctorate of Education in Professional Leadership from the University of Houston. He is an alumnus of the Leadership: An Evolving Vision program through the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and the Principals’ Institute by N2 Learning.

He is also a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, which helps improve workplace engagement and culture.
