Why did you choose to live in CFISD?

My mother chose to move us into the Cypress-Fairbanks area so that I could receive the best opportunity at an education which was and is still CFISD.

Are you currently a CFISD volunteer? If so, what school(s)?

      No.

Have you been a CFISD volunteer in the past (include years)?:

Yes, for Duryea and Walker Elementary as a Bus Buddy in 2021.

List your participation in CFISD school and/or district parent clubs, business partnerships and/or committees.

I was a CFISD student for the duration of all 12 years from first grade to senior year. I became a member of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce in 2019. In 2020 I became a member of the Community Leadership Committee (CLC).

Include any other areas in which you have supported CFISD not included in previous question.

As a former student of CFISD, I was on the basketball team, ran track, and was a part of the speech & debate team and was a proud member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as well as the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA).

List Cy-Fair organizations in which you currently participate, including offices held.

I am an active member of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, and I have attended Education Workforce Committee meetings in the past. I also have attended almost every single board meeting over the last 4 years. I keep myself abreast on the education in our local community along with giving regular feedback regarding education policies already implemented. Being that I am a former CFISD student, this allows me a unique perspective.

Considering your skills and talents, what positive contribution would you make as a member of the Board of Trustees?

I bring a distinctive point of view to the table that distinguishes me from other candidates being a product, and recent graduate of CFISD. I feel my strongest contribution is an exceptional perspective and experience having grown up and been educated in the district. Now, I want to take the investment CFISD made in me and give it back by serving. I am creative, innovative, and eager to get to work.

What are the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees?

Communicate with the community. Adopt goals, priorities, and monitor success. Hire or fire the superintendent and evaluate success. Adopt a budget and set a tax rate. Adopt policies and review for effectiveness. Work with state leaders. Trustees are responsible for their districts quality of education provided in local schools within an approved financial framework. If these responsibilities continue to be met I believe the district will endure success and thrive in all aspects.

What role do positive trustee relations on the Board play in affecting student success?

Positive trustee relations significantly affect success. Working together as one unified body is one of the primary components the board must do to benefit the district to promote growth, and opportunity to all students and staff. At my core, I am not only a leader but a team player as well. As a trustee, I pledge to ensure that trustee relations remain positive and to govern as one to move this district forward.

What critical challenges face the district, and what are possible solutions to address those issues?

Maintain high academic standards/closing the achievement gap. Retain and recruit highly qualified personal reflective of student demographics. Opting out of TRS care and finding a new healthcare system. I plan on working with other board members as well as the administration to draft the best course of action to get students caught up due to the pandemic. Working with HR and the administration on teacher retainment and recruitment. Create a committee for finding affordable insurance.
