YEARS IN CFISD: 8
SUBDIVISION: Bridgeland
OCCUPATION: Clinical Pastoral Therapist
SPOUSE: Timothy Horner
CHILDREN: 6 Children: Brian (24, CyRanch Vitals Program 2018), Ari (18, BHS 2021); an 11-yr-old at Smith, and 3 youngest (ages 10, 9, 8) at Pope
Why did you choose to live in CFISD?
We were looking for a quieter, yet close to everything, area to move to from the city. Cy-Fair offered this, and also had an excellent school rating for our children. Granted, that was prior to having left due to military move, and returning after having had our four youngest kiddos to add to CFISD! Those teachers who have had our kids each year certainly became like family to us and we are so thankful!
Are you currently a CFISD volunteer? If so, what school(s)?
Yes, Bridgeland High School and Pope Elementary.
List your participation in CFISD school and/or district parent clubs, business partnerships and/or committees.
PTO: yearly Veteran and Military related committees, Christmas, Fundraisers, and miscellaneous committees as needed.
Orchestra Booster Club.
Include any other areas in which you have supported CFISD not included in previous question.
My practice is listed on the CFISD School Resources for Mental Health; we provide pro-bono assistance when possible and provide Crisis Intervention if needed.
We work with teachers and admin, educators in general.

Government-appointed Ombudsman/ Family Liaison at Ellington Field.
Volunteering: ministry, providing advocacy, involvement in local legislative action. Active member: VFW, DAV, American Legion.
Considering your skills and talents, what positive contribution would you make as a member of the Board of Trustees?
With 26 years of combined business management, healthcare, and health care administration experience, my experience includes HR Management, Accounts Payable, Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Medical Practice Management, and Psychotherapy.
My natural ability to connect with others, communication skills as a counselor, and background in healthcare administration would be an asset to the Board. As a former government-appointed Ombudsman, my training as a family liaison would ensure the family advocacy and teacher-administrator support necessary to effectively present, debate, and deliver key concerns and policy changes.
What are the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees?
The main role is that of a liaison between families and the school district, with core functions including the evaluation, assessment, and implementation of the governing rules, regulations, and policies within the academic, administrative, and athletic programs. My emphasis and focus are to advocate for the overall well-being, education, and safety of all students within CFISD.
What role do positive trustee relations on the Board play in affecting student success?
When morale is low, the domino effect can become worse, extending to the community. Let’s re-ignite each child’s motivation to succeed, and teachers’ love for education, by fostering open dialogue and collaborative work relationships from board-to-teacher and board-to-parent alike.
What critical challenges face the district, and what are possible solutions to address those issues?
Special needs students & those with hardships, often suffer declines in academic achievement. Cultivate positive parent-teacher relationships by rebuilding trust through collaborative works, and by reestablishing the core tenets of education (reading, writing, traditional math, history and civics). We must establish a merit-based hiring process & hold accountable those who do not follow established guidelines & education laws.
Allocation of funds must be reassessed, as well as board accountability of the budget and taxpayers funded programming.
