College Academy - Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District

The College Academy housed at each high school campus is a district-wide program for students interested in fulfilling their ‘Foundation and Graduation Endorsement’ requirements while simultaneously completing an Associate degree. This course of study includes dual credit courses offered by Cypress Fairbanks ISD in partnership with Lone Star College CyFair and focuses on preparing students with the skills and knowledge to complete a 2-year degree or apply coursework to a 4-year college or university.

The College Academy Application window for current CFISD students is now closed.

Applications will be reviewed in June. Decisions will be communicated via email throughout the summer.

New Students

Application Information for Students New to CFISD:

Deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026

Students entering 9th grade who are new to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and who were not enrolled at a CFISD campus during the spring semester of the previous school year may be eligible to apply for the College Academy program.

To qualify, students must:

Be eligible for promotion to 9th grade
Have earned high school credit for an advanced math course, including Algebra I or higher, with a final average of 80 or above
Have earned credit in Advanced English Language Arts, including ESL 8 Advanced, with a final average of 80 or above

Note: Students may also qualify for admission with a Meets Grade Level or Masters Grade Level performance on the Algebra I and Grade 8 Reading STAAR assessments.

As part of the application process, students must provide documentation of qualifying grades and/or test scores. All applications and qualifying materials must be submitted by Friday, August 21, 2026.

Note: The College Academy is a cohort model beginning in 9^th grade, however, students may still pursue completion of an associate degree through enrollment in Dual Credit and/or Advanced Placement courses outside of enrollment in the College Academy.

Current Students

Information for Current CFISD Students:

Applications are accepted during the 4th grading period of 8th grade and close on the last day of school. Specific dates are communicated from the middle school shortly after the end of the 3rd grading period.

The applicant must meet the requirements for promotion to 9th grade, have Algebra I (or Geometry) credit with an average of 80+ and have completed K-level/HORIZONS 8th grade English language arts with an average of 80+, including ESL 8 ADV.

Students in Algebra I/Geometry and 8^th Lang Arts H/K or 8^th ESL Adv who pass with less than an 80-year average will be put in a “Pending EOC/STAAR” status until those scores are available. Meets/Masters for Algebra I/Lang Arts 8 STAAR may be used for admission purposes. The College Academy office will automatically review students and send out communication. Please know that EOC/STAAR scores may not be fully available until August.

The applicant must have completed ALL portions of the application for admission.
