Original Credit and Math Acceleration Courses

Registration for Original Credit (OC) and Math Acceleration (ACC)

  • Registration is based on current 2024-2025 grade levels.
  • See Important Dates relating to registration. Registration begins April 9 and ends May 2.
  • Students must have approval from their grade-level counselor before signing up for original-credit courses.
  • Students must pay the required tuition in full when they register using School Cash. An approved registration card and full payment must be submitted by the posted deadline to complete the registration process.
  • Contact your child’s counselor to begin the registration process.
  • Out-of-District students may not register for Middle School Summer School.

Original Credits

Students may earn ½ L-level (on-level) credit each session for original credit courses. To get credit for the course, students may not be absent more than 2 days during each session.

Reminder: One day in summer school equals eight days in the regular school term.

Original Credit Course Offerings

Students must be eligible to take a course during the 2025-2026 school year in order to enroll in an original-credit course in the summer. Only the courses listed on this page will be offered for original credit. If fewer than 20 students enroll in a course, students will be notified to select another course, receive a full refund, or attend another campus if space is available.

Middle School Credit Courses
Course Name Number of Credits Location Available for Students Currently in the Grade(s) Indicated
Physical Education 7 or 8 ½ Anthony, Bleyl Current 6th & 7th

High School Credit Courses

Touch System Data Entry ½ Anthony, Bleyl Current 6th, 7th, 8th
Art I * 1 Bridgeland Current 8th
Fitness and Wellness * 1 Bridgeland Current 8th

*Students must complete the full course in summer school; therefore, they must enroll in both summer sessions June 9 – June 26 and June 30 – July 16. Current high school students are given first priority for courses offered on a high school campus.

Math Acceleration Courses

Students must make 1) an 85+ yearly average in an on-level math course or score Masters Grade level on STAAR Math in order to take math acceleration courses and 2) earn a final grade of 80+ in the summer course in order to be placed in K-level math for 2025-2026. Should a student not earn the required 85+ yearly math average, they will be removed from the summer acceleration course. Registration for the Math Acceleration program ends on the home campus on May 2nd. Students must attend the last day of the summer school course, (July 16) and take the final exam.

Considerations

Summer school course curriculum is fast-paced, compacted, and accelerated. Students who typically need extra time to read, research, or complete a project or an assignment may encounter challenges. The compacted nature of summer school provides no opportunity for tutorials. Original credit courses taken by eighth grade students will be included in grade point average (GPA) calculations.
