May 5, 2025—Cypress Springs High School senior Aliya Patel is applauded by her teachers for being an exceptional student.

Age: 17
Grade: 12
Accomplishments: Patel is a distinguished honor roll student and is currently ranked within the top 10% of her class. She holds a Java Certiport IT certification and has been selected to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar as the Cypress Springs ambassador. Patel is a NASA High School Aerospace Scholar, the founder of “Raw Contraptions,” a 3D laser-cutting business and is the co-founder of “Music of Wheels,” a program that partners with Meals on Wheels to bring joy to elderly community members through music. She has received the Gold Medal Congressional Award and has served as president of the Cypress Springs Technology Student Association. She also serves as president of Science Olympiad and Mu Alpha Theta and serves as secretary of National Honor Society. Patel is an Eagle Scout and a member of the “Order of the Arrow” Scouting National Honor Society.
Favorite class: “All of my STEM classes.”
Favorite things to do after class: “I like to volunteer. I have fostered more than 200 animals since 2016. During the summer I’ve participated in programs like USNA Summer STEM Program, West Point Program, Girls Who Code and Team Tomorrow Incubator Program. I also have nine years of training in Jiu-Jitsu, and I serve as a certified assistant instructor.”
Favorite song: “I have a lot of different favorite songs, but I also play several instruments, with violin being my favorite.”
Ambition: “My short-term ambition is to be accepted into Yale University where I can continue my studies in engineering and continue building my businesses.”
What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I have deep respect for education, which comes from my family’s values and my own understanding of perseverance. My mom has inspired me to prioritize education above all else.”
What inspires you?: “My family inspires me, the opportunity to give back to the community and the idea that I’m pursuing a male-dominated field but can make an impact on the lives of so many people.”
What three things can’t you live without?: “I cannot live without my family, my friends and my computer.”
