Langham Creek High School senior Logan Soileau claimed the 165-pound boys’ region championship title at the at the Region III-6A Wrestling Championships. Five Lobos were among 35 CFISD wrestlers who qualified for the UIL Class 6A Wrestling State Tournament, scheduled for Feb. 14-15 at the Berry Center.

Feb. 13, 2025—Thirty-five wrestlers from 11 CFISD high schools placed in the top four of their respective weight classes at the Region III-6A Wrestling Championships on Feb. 7-8 to qualify for the UIL Class 6A Wrestling State Tournament, scheduled for Feb. 14-15 at the Berry Center.

In the girls’ tournament, five CFISD schools finished in the top 10 and seven placed among the top 15. Among the top 10, Langham Creek High School (93 points) placed fourth, Cypress Ranch High School (85.5 points) placed fifth, Cypress Springs High School (82 points) placed seventh, Cypress Park High School (74 points) placed eighth and Cy-Fair High School (58.5) placed 10th.

Cypress Creek High School finished in the top 15 placing 12th with a score of 55.5 and Cypress Woods High School (47.5) placed 15th.

CFISD had five girls’ regional champions:

·         Langham Creek junior Avianna Caceres won the 120-pound title, defeating Cypress Creek senior Chamille Bryson, 16-11

·         Cypress Woods senior Lillian Baynes won the 152-pound title, defeating Katy Mayde Creek’s Emma Dutcher, 9-8

·         Bridgeland junior Genevieve Seiffert won the 165-pound title, defeating Clute Brazoswood’s Karen Kime in 1:34

·         Cypress Springs junior Kennedy Alexander won the 185-pound title, defeating Jersey Village senior Tiara Hall in 5:50

·         Cypress Park senior Kalea Berry won the 235-pound title, defeating Richmond Foster’s Sally Kazeem in 2:57

 

In the boys’ tournament, Cypress Falls High School had the highest team finish, placing fourth overall with 91.5 total points. Cypress Ranch (80.5) finished seventh and Cypress Creek (60.5) finished 12th.

CFISD had three boys’ regional champions:

·         Cypress Falls senior Dimitri Bao-Washington won the 138-pound title, defeating Katy Cinco Ranch’s Andrei Gavaza, 9-8

·         Langham Creek senior Logan Soileau won the 165-pound title, defeating Cypress Creek senior Travis Rosa in 3:44

·         Cypress Springs senior Timothy Merchant won the 215-pound title defeating Katy Mayde Creek’s Isaiah Goff, 13-9

Cypress Woods High School senior Lillian Baynes won the 152-pound girls’ regional title to advance to the state tournament.

The fifth-place wrestler in each weight class will advance to state as an alternate. The following 35 wrestlers and eight alternates placed in the top five in the region:
