CFISD names new assistant superintendent for educational support services

Dec. 19, 2024Marchelle Peters, executive director for special education in Katy ISD, was named the new assistant superintendent for educational support services on Dec. 18. Peters replaces Barb Levandoski, who announced her retirement effective Dec. 31.

Peters has served in her current role since 2022, overseeing district special education services while ensuring compliance with applicable law and policies. Prior to this, she served as director of specialized programs and assessments (2020-2022) and instructional officer for ECSE, LIFE Skills and TIP (2017-2020) in Katy ISD.

Before arriving in Katy ISD, Peters worked as a diagnostician coordinator in Spring ISD (2016-2017), a program specialist for assessment and inclusion in Tomball ISD (2014-2016) and an educational diagnostician in Tomball, Clear Creek and Cypress-Fairbanks ISDs (2006-2014).

Peters earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University and her Master of Science in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston. She is currently a doctoral student in Educational Psychology at Texas Tech University.

“I am excited to return to CFISD and contribute to its proud tradition of excellence in education,” Peters said. “This opportunity allows me to support students, families and staff while pursuing my passion for ensuring that every student receives exceptional education and services.”
