The CFISD Police Department joined representatives from H-E-B and Cy-Hope to put together and deliver 26 Thanksgiving meals on Nov. 25 to families in need throughout the district.
Nov. 26, 2024—The CFISD Police Department, in partnership with Cy-Hope and H-E-B, delivered Thanksgiving meals to families on Nov. 25.
The department gathers to put together baskets of food and deliver those baskets to families in need each year during the holiday season.
“It means the world to me to come back every year and volunteer our time and give back to the community, said Officer Adrian Thomas, leader with the police department’s Community Outreach Program. “We truly appreciate the time that the officers take to package boxes and donate turkeys to every family in need. Actually, seeing their faces and seeing how appreciative they are just warms my heart.”
CFISD police officers met at Cy-Hope on Nov. 25 to load CFISD buses with the 26 Thanksgiving meals for families in need.
Officers and representatives from community partners met at Cy-Hope in the morning to load up two CFISD school buses with the meals. Twenty-six meals were assembled with nonperishable food including mashed potatoes, stuffing, canned vegetables and cake mix. A turkey, ham or both were also included with the meals.
“We are so thankful that the CFISD Police Department wants to be a part of something greater for our community,” said Essence Castro, Cy-Hope backpack feeding program director. “It means that the community is coming together to give back to the families who are unable to provide this dinner for themselves and their families.”
Officers boarded two CFISD school buses to make the deliveries to families throughout the CFISD community.
