Nov. 19, 2024—Students from Keith Elementary School, Sprague Middle School and Cypress Park High School earned “Best in Show” in the annual Superintendent Holiday Card Contest, selected from 158 entries across all grade levels.

Dr. Doug Killian, CFISD superintendent, along with associate superintendents, served as judges for the contest, designating a first-, second- and third-place winner for each grade level and choosing the “Best in Show” winner at the elementary, middle and high school level from the first-place grade level winners.

Sprague Middle School eighth grade student Jennin Covanes was named Best in Show in the middle school category with her digital media piece titled “A Winter Night” in the annual Superintendent Holiday Card Contest.

“I am incredibly proud of our art programs’ participation, with nearly every school submitting entries to the contest,” said Lee Carrier, visual arts coordinator. “Organizing a campus-wide, TEKS-aligned art contest and selecting the top three entries is no small feat, and I deeply appreciate the hard work of our art teachers. This year’s entries showcased an impressive range of creativity, mediums and techniques across all grade levels.”

Cypress Park High School sophomore Sophia Parrales was named Best in Show in the high school category with her Prismacolor piece titled “Childhood Holidays” in the annual Superintendent Holiday Car Contest.
