March 6, 2026—Representatives from Martial Arts USA visited the staff at McGown Elementary School on Feb. 17 and Postma Elementary School on Feb. 25, respectively, to officially announce their Adopt-a-School partnership with the campuses.
CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community organizations and business partners to utilize community resources to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.
Boae Shin, master of Martial Arts USA, shared that many students from both campuses attend classes at Martial Arts USA and adopting both McGown and Postma is a way to give back to the community.
“Many of our students attend schools within CFISD, and we see firsthand the incredible impact educators have on their lives,” Shin said. “Supporting CFISD is our way of showing gratitude and helping strengthen the community that supports our families. We truly appreciate the dedication of CFISD’s teachers and staff, and we are honored to support their efforts.”

LauraAnn Novacinski, McGown principal, anticipates the impact that the partnership will have on the McGown staff and students.
“The Adopt-A-School partnership is an exceptional program that establishes the foundation for a meaningful relationship, directly benefiting our students and the broader school community,” Novacinski said. “Through this collaboration, we strengthen the connection between education and our local community, fostering a shared commitment to growth, opportunity, and success for all involved. McGown Elementary School is sincerely grateful for this valuable partnership and the many opportunities it creates for our students.”
Tracy Barstow, Postma principal, also anticipates the impact that the partnership will have on the Postma staff and students.
“Postma Elementary School is proud and deeply grateful for the partnership with Martial Arts USA through the Adopt-A-School program,” Barstow said. “Master Shin and her team have long been valued members of our community, consistently stepping forward to support Postma students and staff in meaningful ways.”
