Junior Police Academy

Junior Police Academy est. 2019

The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department’s Junior Police Academy (JPA) Class is a full-day learning experience created for 9 to13-year-old students within our district. Academy classes will be filled based on the order each application is received electronically via the district’s website.

The mission of the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Junior Police Academy (JPA) is to foster positive interaction between the police, students and parents while providing youth with an introduction to Law Enforcement. Police officers will serve as mentors, interacting with each student on a personal level.

The cadets will be taught through classroom training, hands-on instruction, and practical applications in a fun, interactive and hands-on manner. Throughout the process, leadership and team-building skills will be emphasized, as well as integrity, equality, respect and problem-solving skills.

The daily presentations will include important educational information, such as the “Stop the Bleed” program, which teaches the lifesaving skill of applying a tourniquet. Mapping skills will be tackled using scavenger hunts. Physical fitness will be emphasized throughout the week as the Junior Police Cadets compete on an obstacle course. The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department K-9 units will also be utilized to teach the students about drug awareness.
