K-9 Division

The Cy-Fair ISD Police Department Canine Unit was established in 2018 and consists of five k-9s and their handlers. The Department currently has four narcotic detection dogs and one explosive detection dog.

The K-9 Officers and their handlers spend their workdays conducting searches on campus, assisting patrol, and putting on educational presentations and demonstrations for the students and staff of CFSID.

Officer Collins and K-9 Koa
k-9 koa

Officer M. Collins began her law enforcement career in 2020 with the Harris County Constable Precinct 5 and has proudly served the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department and community since 2021. Her experience includes working in patrol and campus operations, where she played a vital role in promoting safety and building positive relationships across several campuses, most recently at Campbell Middle School.

On May 30, 2025, Officer Collins joined the K9-Unit as a Handler.

K-9 Koa joined the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department in February 2023. She is an English Springer Spaniel born in Poland and imported to the United States by Pacesetter K9. Specially trained in Explosive Odor Detection (EOD), Koa plays a critical role in maintaining safety and security throughout the district.

Koa lives at home with Officer Collins along with their family pet King who is a English Bulldog. With a high drive and a love for her work, Koa is always eager to serve. Whether she’s conducting a sweep or playing fetch, her enthusiasm and commitment help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the CFISD community.

Officer Hindman and K-9 Zeke
K-9 Zeke

Officer Hindman began his career in 1992, as a Deputy Constable in Corpus Christ, Texas. He has previously worked in drug interdiction, corrections, and patrol operations with various agencies. Officer Hindman came to Houston in 2001 as an Agent with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Officer Hindman started his career with the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department in May of 2015. Officer Hindman has worked Patrol on night shift, Campus Operations at Cy Woods HS, and is now a Canine Handler with his partner K-9 Zeke.

K-9 Zeke is a German Shepherd and was born on April 25, 2022, in Poland. Like the other K-9’s in the unit Zeke was brought to the United States by Pacesetter K-9 and has been trained in Narcotics Detection. Officer Hindman’s previous partner K-9 Jumper is currently enjoying retirement with his new K-9 friend and family.

Officer Mayo and K-9 Astra
K9-Astra

Officer Mayo has been a Police Officer since February 1989. During his career Officer Mayo worked for the Houston Police Department and spent time working Canine, Scuba Dive Team, Community Services, Gang Division, Hot Spot, and Patrol. While working as a Canine handler for HPD Officer Mayo worked several high profile assignments including Super Bowls in Houston and Minneapolis. Officer Mayo began working for the Cy-Fair ISD Police Department in 2018 as a Canine Handler.

Canine Astra is a female Belgian Malinois who was born on August 1, 2016, in Poland. Astra was brought to the United States in March of 2018 by Pacesetter K-9. K-9 Astra is trained in the detection of narcotics and firearms.

Astra lives at home with Officer Mayo and his family including her best friend Retired Canine Drummel who retired in May of 2018 along with Officer Mayo from the Houston Police Department.

Astra loves to come to work where she gets to conduct detection work and interact with the employees and students of CFISD.

Officer Olivares and K-9 Loki
k-9 loki

Officer Olivares has been a Police Officer since August 2017 and has served at the Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. Police Department since then. Officer Olivares has served on Night Patrol, Evening Patrol, and Campus Operations at Bleyl Middle School and assisted in opening Rowe Middle School by being its first assigned Police Officer.

K-9 Loki is a Belgian Shepherd born in Poland on July 6, 2022. K-9 Loki was brought to the United States by Pacesetter K-9 and is a narcotic detection K-9.

K-9 Loki lives with Officer Olivares and his family, and they have a big backyard where they have lots of fun. K-9 Loki loves coming to work, finding narcotics, giving hugs, and playing fetch with Officer Olivares. K-9 Loki strives to prevent as many illegal activities in our community as possible.
