Telecommunications
The CFISD communications division is staffed by eight full-time TCOLE certified Public Safety Telecommunicators, as well as three part-time telcommunicators which provide the district and our police department telecommunications services 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Our TCO’s (Telecommunications officers) are responsible for monitoring and responding to all radio traffic generated by our Police officers to include CFISD’s district wide emergency radio channel and the CFISD transportation radios. In addition, the communications division monitors the district’s video surveillance and all alarm systems for the district. The communications division is also tasked with all after hours emergency call outs for the school district, coordinating crisis and emergency response, as well as tracking local, state, and national events that may impact the school district’s daily operations.
The communications officers are aided by Computerized Automated Dispatch (CAD), which enables both accurate and precise recording of police activity and rapid record retrieval for the officers. In addition to CAD, the communications officer has direct access to our in-house computer system, ARMS, as well as the national and state law enforcement computer networks (NCIC/TCIC).
