6TH GRADE
Fall Semester
Transition to Middle School: Students receive guidance lessons designed to address age-appropriate issues and situations that are relevant to adolescents and learn tools to help them handle these situations. Students discuss how to handle specific situations for each topic and are allowed to ask questions. The following topics are covered:
- Introduction to the 6th Grade Counselor and Counseling Office
- Handling Stress and Anxiety
- Social Emotional Learning
- Self Awareness
- Responsible Decision Making
- Relationship Skills
- Social Awareness
- Self Management
- Social Media/Internet Safety
Spring Semester
Gear Up: The Gear Up presentation is designed for parents of current 6th graders. It will provide valuable information on the Texas Graduation Plan, selecting classes for next year, and preparing for high school. The students will receive the information and the registration form the same day during Advisory.
- 6 to 7 Grade Gear Up Presentation February 8th - Look for the link to be sent out through School Messenger, Schoology, Counselor Corner and the school website.

8TH GRADE
Fall Semester
College and Career Guidance Lessons: The program is designed to introduce students to the Texas High School Graduation Plan (Foundation High School Program + Endorsement), explore career options related to each endorsement, and create a 4-Year Plan for high school that will support their college and career goals.
The 8th grade Guidance Program provides:
- In-depth exploration of each endorsement area and related careers
- Course requirements for graduation
- Course selection for 9th grade and development of a 4-Year Plan
