Dear Yellowjacket Families,

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! We are thrilled to welcome our students back to Yeager Elementary for the First Day of School on Monday, August 28th! We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families this summer. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year as our teachers #BringTheMagic in their classrooms! We are striving to build not just a school but an unforgettable experience for our students that they will talk about for years to come.

Our incredible staff of educators have been preparing for this school year throughout the summer attending multiple conferences and professional development courses to prepare amazing experiences for the new school year. We are also grateful to our dedicated custodial staff as they worked all summer getting our school in pristine shape.

Yeager Elementary is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every student. Together with our dedicated staff, we will work to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our Yellowjacket motto of “Together We SWARM! Today and Everyday!” will resonate throughout the building everyday from our students and staff to guide our Yellowjacket Family mission to provide a rigorous, joyful, and inclusive school environment. Our overarching goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.

Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our school website, social media accounts, and opting in to receive emails and texts through school messenger.

School Supplies:

• Friday, August 18th:  PreK and Kindergarten Social @ Yeager Elementary
  - All PreK and Kindergarten students are invited to come to school to take a tour of the school, practice riding the school bus, and learn more about the upcoming school year!
  - 10:00am-11:00am at Yeager Elementary
• Tuesday, August 22nd: Yeager Staff/Community Bus Tour Social
  - Choose your location!!! We will have two buses of staff at the Champions Golf Club and one bus of staff at Cabo Bob’s passing out popsicle freeze pops! Come meet our new staff and visit with returning staff!
  - 1:30-2:30 at Champions Golf Club Parking Lot

  - 1:30-2:30 at Cabo Bob’s Parking Lot @ 7103 Cypress Creek Pkwy
• Thursday, August 24th: Meet the Teacher Spirit Night @ Swanny’s Grill
  - Bring your Family out to Swanny’s Grill for a Meet the Teacher Spirit Night. Enjoy dinner with your family with a percentage of sales being donated back to school while also getting to Meet Your Teacher! Please come during your grade level’s assigned time. Your student’s newly assigned teacher will call to invite you to the event!

• Friday August 25th: Yellowjacket Express Open House
  - Come meet your teacher, find your classroom, bring in your school supplies, and prepare for the upcoming school year! Please note the time for your grade
  - 8:45-9:45 - (ECSE, PreK, Kinder, 1st, and 2nd)
  - 10:30-11:30 - (3rd, 4th, 5th, and LifeSkills)

We look forward to seeing all our families at all these upcoming events planned before school starts, and I look forward to welcoming all our Little Yellowjackets back to the Nest on August 28th for the first day of school.  Mark your calendars and get ready as we SWARM Together to make the 2023-24 school year the best one yet!
