44 CFISD musicians named to TMEA 2020-2021 All-State ensembles

Cypress Creek High School senior Emily Pace is one of two CFISD students to earn All-State honors for all four years of their high school career. Pace is a four-year TMEA All-State choir member.
Jan. 25, 2021—Forty-four CFISD high school music students recently earned All-State honors through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) audition process.
Students began the process of competing virtually due to COVID-19 in the fall semester and advanced through a series of rigorous competition rounds to eventually earn this performance distinction.
CFISD had two students earn All-State honors for all four years of their high school career. Cypress Creek High School senior Emily Pace and Cypress Woods High School senior Jolie Hammerstein earned All-State honors for choir and band, respectively.
Cypress Woods High School senior Jolie Hammerstein earned TMEA All-State band honors for the fourth consecutive year.
“Congratulations to the 44 students from CFISD who have earned the honor of being a TMEA All-State musician,” said Mary Running, director of fine arts. “More than 70,000 students from across the state competed in the TMEA process this year and I am proud of our students for being among the top 2 percent of all high school musicians in Texas. The students and their parents are to be commended for the countless hours they spent preparing for these auditions during these very challenging times. I would also like to commend the perseverance of our teachers who worked hard to develop a safe process for our student musicians to compete.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no in-person All-State performance this year.
