850-plus HORIZONS students attend Da Vinci Day

April 25, 2017—More than 850 CFISD elementary and middle school HORIZONS students donned their commemorative t-shirts to participate in Da Vinci Day on March 25 at Cypress Park High School. The fun-filled morning featured challenging activities that allowing the students to demonstrate advanced STEAM skills and creative natures.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science, Alley Theatre, Houston Zoo, Play-well (Legos) of Dallas, LittleBeakers (chemistry), and Color Me Mine (ceramics painting) brought their equipment and even animals to the campus for plenty of hands-on excitement.

Additionally, a team of CFISD elementary, middle school, and high school teachers lead students through coding sessions, chess and robotics challenges. 

“The gamut of activities aimed at challenge, creativity and skill made Da Vinci Day a tremendous success,” said Susan Firth, CFISD director of advanced academics.
