Aug. 28, 2019—David Welch, lead pastor at Bear Creek Baptist Church, along with church staff, visited Cypress Springs High School on Aug. 23 to announce the church’s Adopt-a-School partnership in front of the school’s staff.
CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community and business partners to utilize resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students. Bear Creek Baptist Church is Cypress Springs’ first partner.
“Cypress Springs is thrilled to be adopted by Bear Creek Baptist Church,” said Dr. Cheryl Henry, Cypress Springs principal. “We have been waiting for years to have an adoptive partner and we feel like we just struck gold! We are hoping that we can be a blessing to each other as we both focus on growing our scholars!”
Located less than 3 miles from each other, Cypress Springs and Bear Creek share students and community members, with some Cypress Springs staff even attending the church. Bear Creek Baptist Church is also no stranger to CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program. The church adopted Walker Elementary School in 2015. This year, the church saw a need to serve at Cypress Springs.
“CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program has been the most amazing experience for us,” said David Welch, Bear Creek Baptist Church’s lead pastor. “When we were asked to serve Cy Springs, we jumped on it because we know the power of community. We can’t wait to serve Cy Springs this year.”
