Golfers aim for the green during the 28th annual BF Adam Golf Classic on May 12 at BlackHorse Golf Club. The event is expected to raise approximately $145,000 for student scholarships through the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation.
May 13, 2016—The CFISD community raised approximately $145,000 for student scholarships through the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) 28th annual BF Adam Golf Classic, held May 12 at BlackHorse Golf Club.
The annual event, named after longtime CFISD school board member and elementary school namesake Bernard Fred (BF) Adam, contributes to the CFEF mission of increasing access for CFISD graduates by awarding scholarships.

“This has been our best year ever,” said Marie Holmes, CFEF executive director. “We sold out almost two months ahead of schedule and many people donated their teams back to us. It was a fantastic year for a fun event where everyone was out here to help the kids.”
The tournament was underwritten by Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital, and featured platinum sponsors IBI Group, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP and Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc. The gold sponsor was KME Salas O’Brien, LLC, and the lunch sponsor was Caldwell Companies.

The North Course winner was ACU of Texas, shooting a score of 53. Team members were Derrick Brown, Kevin Anderson, Corey Lecoq and Brandon Ott. The North Course Longest Drive winner was Greg Axelrod, and the Closest to the Hole winner was OD Tompkins.
The South Course winner, Purcell Construction, Inc., shot a 54. Team members were David Ortego, Jason Traylor, Jed Purcell and Larry Purcell. The South Course Longest Drive winner was Ryon Smith, and the Closest to the Hole winner was Brian Jenkins.
The team of Derrick Brown, Kevin Anderson, Corey Lecoq and Brandon Ott shot a 53 to win the North Course championship at the 28th annual BF Adam Golf Classic on May 12.
“What makes this event so great is to see the universal support, not only from the Cy-Fair business community but also the community-at-large including a lot of our school district business partners,” said Dr. Mark Henry, CFISD superintendent. “Certainly everyone enjoys the golf, but mostly they enjoy contributing to the CFEF scholarship fund and fellowshipping with one another.
“It’s another one of those great events that the Cy-Fair community is famous for.”
The team of David Ortego, Jason Traylor, Jed Purcell and Larry Purcell shot a 54 to win the South Course championship at the 28th annual BF Adam Golf Classic on May 12.
