Aug. 6, 2019—The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will host a two-day blood drive at the Berry Center Aug. 7-8 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The need for blood donations was heightened in the wake of the tragic Aug. 3 shooting in El Paso, Texas. Although El Paso has not formally requested blood from the Houston area, donations from this drive would be available if needed.

“Donating blood is one of the simplest ways to strengthen our community’s ability to respond to unpredictable, life-threatening emergencies,” said Bevin Gordon, director of marketing and business relations.

Donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Donors will need to schedule an appointment online. Appointments are available in 15-minute intervals.
