Oct. 26, 2020—The Bridgeland High School tennis team completed a perfect 7-0 run through its District 16-6A season, clinching a league championship for the second consecutive year.
The two titles come in the school’s four-year existence. Bridgeland’s championship ended a five-year run by Cypress Ranch High School that began in 2014 and resulted in the Mustangs claiming a shared title followed by four outright district championships.
Cypress Ranch will advance to the postseason as the No. 2 seed in District 16-6A followed by No. 3 seed Cypress Woods High School and No. 4 seed Cypress Falls High School. Bridgeland will play its bi-district playoff on Oct 26, while the Mustangs, Wildcats and Golden Eagles will play on Oct. 27.
Bridgeland will face Tomball at 3 p.m. at Tomball High School (30330 Quinn Road).
Cypress Ranch will meet Klein Oak at 1 p.m. at Klein High School (16717 Stuebner Airline Road). Cypress Woods will face Klein at 3:30 p.m. at Cypress Park High School (7425 Westgreen Blvd.). Cypress Falls will meet Klein Cain at 3:30 p.m. at Cypress Woods (13550 Woods-Spillane Blvd.).
In 17-6A, Jersey Village High School finished as the No. 3 seed and will be joined by No. 4 seed Cy-Fair High School in facing their respective 18-6A opponents in the postseason. Both schools will play their bi-district playoffs at home on Oct. 27.
The Falcons will host Houston Lamar at 3 p.m. at Jersey Village High School (7600 Solomon St.). The Bobcats will host Houston Bellaire at 3 p.m. at Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Freeway).
The winners will advance to the area round with the deadline for the round being Oct. 31.
