CFISD assistant superintendent earns TASBO’s RISE Award

April 15, 2021Chairita Franklin, CFISD assistant superintendent of human resources, has been named a 2021 recipient of the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) RISE Award, and a TASBO representative presented her with the award during the Board of Trustees meeting on April 8.

The TASBO RISE Award is given annually to organization members whose accomplishments distinguish them as future leaders in the profession and brings light to individuals on the rise in the school business community.

“We are building on the leadership of tomorrow and Chairita has certainly risen to that occasion,” said Dr. Tracy Ginsburg, TASBO executive director. “You call Chairita and she’s willing to help and do whatever she can because she knows she’s helping others throughout the state.”

Franklin has served in her current role since 2012, joining CFISD with 17 years of human resources experience in higher education and the private sector. She has served on TASBO’s personnel research committee and is credited for being a frequent instructor for the organization. Franklin has also served as vice president for the Gulf Coast TASBO regional affiliate.

“I am grateful and honored to be recognized by the Texas Association of School Business Officials,” Franklin said. “When I was hired in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, I had years of human resources experience: however, I was new to the K-12 space. Once I found TASBO, I started relying heavily on the course content provided through the Texas School Business certification program to understand the business operations.

“This understanding, coupled with my HR knowledge, helped me to be of greater service to my stakeholders. Being recognized for recycling value back into this elite organization is an amazing feeling, and knowing I am giving back some of what TASBO has given to me brings me great joy.”

To be eligible for the award, recipients are required to be an active TASBO member for no more than 10 years and display a desire to advance their career with continued engagement in TASBO.
