Nov. 15, 2019—Nearly 40 CFISD athletes joined many others across the country in signing letters of intent to participate in collegiate athletics during the early signing period, which started Nov. 13.
“It is gratifying to see so many CFISD athletes fulfill a lifelong dream by signing National Letters of Intent,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD director of athletics. “We are proud of the students, coaches and programs in regards to their accomplishments on and off the field. To be considered for an athletic scholarship, athletes must meet stringent academic requirements as well as be great athletes. We celebrate with their families and wish our athletes the best of luck as they continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level.”
The signing period is the first time student athletes from Bridgeland and Cypress Park high schools were able to sign their letters of intent.
“This first group of seniors that signed with colleges is really impressive,” said Bridgeland Head Volleyball Coach Verena Khalil, who watched three of her athletes sign. “Their hard work and dedication paid off with colleges signing them to play at the next level. I am so proud of Aidan, Alexis, and Makensie because they have started a tradition as ‘Bridgeland’s First Class’ with a very high standard.”
