March 2, 2018—CFISD concluded its boys’ basketball season with Cypress Falls High School reaching the regional quarterfinals on Feb. 27 where the Golden Eagles were eliminated.
Cypress Falls lost to Houston Sam Houston 65-64 in double overtime at Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse. The Golden Eagles finish the season repeating as District 17-6A champions and regional quarterfinalists.
Led by a senior class that fueled Cypress Falls’ run to the 2017 Class 6A state championship, the program’s two-year run over the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons concludes with a 66-7 combined record and consecutive undefeated district championships to go with the state title.

“We just weren’t able to close it out,” Cypress Falls Head Coach Richard Flores said following his team’s game Feb. 27. “But it definitely wasn’t for a lack of heart, character (and) determination. When there was doubt placed upon us, we just replaced that with faith.”
