Aug. 6, 2019—Cypress-Fairbanks ISD earned its ninth consecutive five-star rating in the Texas Smart Schools Initiative, an online resource that aims to improve education by identifying Smart Schools that are both effective and efficient.
Gathering data on both academic progress and spending, each school district and campus is assigned a Smart Score of one to five stars. A five-star rating indicates the strongest level of relative academic progress combined with the lowest relative spending.
CFISD is one of 51 public and charter school districts across the state to earn a five-star rating. In addition, CFISD has earned the highest possible rating in all nine years of the Texas Smart Schools program.
“In earning a ninth consecutive five-star rating, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD continues to be a leader in academic and financial excellence,” said Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools. “The benefits of our district reach every student and community member we serve, which not only solidifies this recognition, but aligns with our mission of Opportunity For All.”
Texas Smart Schools uses three-year averages to obtain more stable and persistent measures of academic progress and spending. The 2019 Texas Smart Schools results are based on data from the 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018 school years.
