The Cypress Ridge Rams will be one of 21 teams competing in the CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase on Jan. 4-6. The event field includes five CFISD teams.
Dec. 20, 2017—Cypress-Fairbanks ISD will host the 15th annual CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase on Jan. 4-6, with the tournament continuing its run of bringing many of the state’s best together to start the season.
The 21-team event will be played in a showcase style format, with all teams scheduled to play three full-length games (Cypress Ranch High School will play four games). Matches will be played at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Pridgeon Stadium (11355 Falcon Road). They will kickoff at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 4 and conclude at approximately 8 p.m. on Jan. 6.
The full schedule is available online and will be updated with scores throughout the three-day competition.
Five CFISD teams (Cypress Ranch, Cypress Lakes, Cypress Springs, Cypress Ridge and Cypress Woods) will compete in the invitational. The 16 visiting teams are:
Nine teams in the tournament field start the season in the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches preseason rankings, including Cypress Lakes.
Progreso High School will be among the 16 visiting teams participating in the CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase on Jan. 4-6. The field features 21 total teams and nine, including Progreso, start the year in the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches preseason rankings.
“Once again we have assembled what we believe is one of the strongest preseason showcase fields throughout the state of Texas, as we welcome teams from three of the four most competitive regions in the state,” said Scott Tucker, Langham Creek assistant principal, former soccer coach and tournament director. “Outside of the quality, we are also excited about the continued relationships we have been able to establish with soccer coaches throughout the state. Our focus of the event has always been to provide top quality matches in the best environments possible not only for our CFISD teams, but those who participate in our event annually.”
Tickets will be sold at the gate for $3 (adults) and $2 (students) apiece. Spectators at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium are asked to use Gate 6, while spectators at Pridgeon Stadium are asked to enter through the home gates.
