Nov. 13, 2019—Stacia Carew, principal at Bleyl Middle School, was named the first principal for CFISD’s 19th middle school, Rowe Middle School, on Nov. 13.

Rowe Middle School is under construction and is located on the Cypress Park multi-campus site next to Cypress Park High School and is set to open in August 2020.

Carew has 22 years of experience in education. Her career began in Aldine ISD as a sixth grade language arts teacher, then serving as a Title I coordinator and testing coordinator. Before leaving Aldine ISD, Carew served as a curriculum assistant principal at Carver Magnet High School. Carew moved to CFISD in 2007 as an assistant principal at Aragon Middle School before becoming an assistant principal at Cypress Woods High School. Carew was named to her current role of principal at Bleyl Middle School in 2009.

Carew received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University and her Master of Education in Administration from the University of Houston. She has participated in the Principal Visioning Institute, is an NAESP Certified Principal Mentor and recently completed the Texas ASCD Transformative Principal Leadership Academy.

“It is a true honor to be given the opportunity to be the inaugural principal of Rowe Middle School,” Carew said. “I am eager to meet the students, family and community and I’m so excited to start new and exciting traditions at Rowe!”

Rowe Middle School is expected to serve approximately 1,350 students and mirror Cypress Park High School’s three-story design. Rowe and Cypress Park will be part of an “educational village” concept that will include a future elementary school on the district property. Among the middle school’s features are a state-of-the-art athletic competition field with a four-lane track and a collaborative three-story open atrium incorporating learning elements and seating for large-group learning.
