Aug. 21, 2017—Renee Silliman, assistant principal at Francone Elementary School, was named the new principal at Hemmenway Elementary School.
Silliman’s 18-year education career began in Houston at Spring Branch ISD where she spent eight years as a fourth-grade teacher and was Teacher of the Year for the 2004-2005 school year. She also was an after-school project coordinator and district administrator for summer school for three years. Silliman then moved into an administrative support role for two years at The Bendwood School.
She moved to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in 2009 as an assistant principal at Lee Elementary School, spending six years there before serving the most recent two as an assistant principal at Francone Elementary School.
Silliman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of St. Thomas. She is currently in the K-12 Professional Leadership doctoral cohort at the University of Houston.
“I am beyond excited to be a part of the Hemmenway family,” Silliman said. “I’m looking forward to establishing lasting relationships with the students, staff, parents and community members. I am eager to building upon the current success and traditions already in place and am thrilled for the journey ahead. I’m honored to be a Hemmenway Tiger!”
