May 15, 2018—Terry Bell, assistant principal at Hairgrove Elementary School, was named the new principal at Postma Elementary School on May 15. Bell replaces Kim Freed, who will retire in June.
Bell has 23 years in education, starting her career as seventh-grade mathematics teacher at Cook Middle School. She spent three years in that role before moving to Langham Creek High School for three years and Windfern High School for one year.
From 1997-2003, Bell was a Math TAKS and TAAS Interventionist at Campbell and Thornton middle schools.
In 2017, Bell served as a summer school principal.
She moved into administration in 2005, serving as an academic achievement specialist and campus math coach at Truitt Middle School for five years before Bell became an assistant principal at Hairgrove in 2010.
Bell received her Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University and her Master of Education Leadership Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. She was honored as a Teacher of the Year while at Cook Middle School and has participated in CFISD’s Aspiring Principal Institute and Assistant Principal Mentoring Program.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to be a part of the Postma community as its new principal,” Bell said. “I am excited to partner with the staff, parents and community to inspire our young Postma Pumas to dream more, learn more and grow more as they begin their educational journey in CFISD.”
