July 7, 2020—Harry Wright Jr. was named the new assistant general counsel in the Legal Services Office, joining CFISD following five years serving as general counsel for Bryan ISD.
Wright received his Bachelor of Arts in Government from Dartmouth College and Master of Education from Prairie View A&M University. He received his Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law.
Wright began his career in public education in Houston ISD serving seven years as a middle school teacher and coach before returning to school to pursue a law degree. After graduating from Duke University School of Law, he worked for private law firms representing both public and private entities before joining Bryan ISD.
Wright’s parents are lifelong educators – his mother was a teacher in Lamar Consolidated ISD, while his father was the first principal at Lamar Consolidated ISD’s Terry High School and namesake of the district’s sixth junior high school.
“I am very honored to be named the new assistant general counsel,” Wright said. “I look forward to working with the exceptional team here at CFISD and doing my part to contribute to the district’s tradition of excellence.”
Wright began his new position on July 6.
