Dec. 18, 2019—Dr. Heather Bergman, principal of Dean Middle School, was named the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction on Dec. 18. Dr. Bergman replaces Mary Jadloski, who is retiring after 41 years of service to CFISD on Dec. 31.
Dr. Bergman has 19 years of experience in education, including 10 in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Her career began as a classroom teacher for four years at Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio before she moved to CFISD as a teacher and instructional coach for two years. Dr. Bergman transferred to Diboll ISD, working two years as a classroom teacher and instructional coach, before being named director of curriculum and instruction at Woden ISD.
She served four years in that role prior to returning to CFISD as the director of instruction at Cypress Springs High School in 2012. She was soon promoted to associate principal at Cypress Springs before accepting her current role as Dean principal in November 2015.
Dr. Bergman earned her Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Houston and her Master of Science in mathematics from Texas A&M University. She received her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. She holds both principal and superintendent certifications from Stephen F. Austin.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the students, staff, and parents of Dean Middle School,” Dr. Bergman said. “While I will miss the Mustang family, I am excited for the opportunity to support all CFISD students and staff in my new position as part of the curriculum and instruction team.”
