Nov. 10, 2016—Ana Martin, principal at Kahla Middle School, was named the new principal at Cy-Fair High School on Nov. 10. Martin replaces Mike Smith, who was named principal at Bridgeland High School last month.
Martin’s 25-year education career, spent entirely in CFISD, all began at Cy-Fair High School. She started as a Spanish and French teacher, leaving Cy-Fair after two years to be the Spanish and French teacher at Cypress Falls High School. She transitioned to Spanish team leader after one year to serve six total years at the school.
Martin was then named counselor at Cypress Springs High School, serving six years before accepting an assistant principal position at Cypress Ridge High School. She was named director of instruction after three years, and served three years as DI before being named principal at Kahla in 2012.
Martin received her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Teaching from the University of Houston, her Master of Educational Psychology from the University of Houston and her Master of Educational Administration from Sam Houston State University.
“I am honored and excited to return to Cy-Fair High School to serve as principal,” Martin said. “I am committed to being a good steward of the traditions and pride of ‘BFND’ and am determined to continue to build on that spirit of excellence. I am eager to get started and look forward to getting to know the students, staff and community.”
