Sept. 25, 2020—Lanette Bellamy, principal at Labay Middle School, was named the new principal at Cypress Lakes High School on Sept. 25. Bellamy replaces Sarah Harty, who was named assistant superintendent of secondary school administration on Aug. 25.
Bellamy has 26 years of experience in education, including 20 in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Before joining CFISD in 2000 as a counselor at Thornton Middle School, Bellamy taught in Pasadena and Katy ISD. She served at Thornton for three years before moving to Cy-Fair High School as a counselor for one year.
She became the coordinating counselor at Truitt Middle School in 2004, before being named director of instruction at Truitt in 2008. Bellamy then served as director of instruction at Cypress Ranch High School for four years before being named principal at Labay in 2016.
Bellamy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Master of Counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She completed the principal certification program at the University of St. Thomas and is a graduate of the Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP).
“It is an honor and a privilege to be named the new principal of Cypress Lakes High School,” Bellamy said. “I am excited to get to work with the students, staff and community of Cypress Lakes to continue to build on the strong tradition of excellence that the school is known for. I am so excited to be a Cypress Lakes Spartan!”
