June 11, 2019—Tomicka Williams, principal at Post Elementary School, was named the new principal at Duryea Elementary School on June 10. Williams replaces Kenneth Henry who was recently named as a director in student services.
Williams has 25 years of experience in education. She served as a teacher in Lufkin ISD, Stafford Municipal School District and Katy ISD before becoming a campus-based instructional specialist in Katy ISD.
In 2010, Williams moved to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD to become an assistant principal at Lee Elementary School. In 2017, Williams was promoted to principal at Post Elementary School, where she has served for the last two years.
Williams received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University and her Master of Education from Prairie View A&M University. In addition, Williams has received many certifications and awards, including English as a second language, instructional leadership development and the 2001 Stafford Middle School teacher of the year. Williams is currently a member of the Texas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development
